Last week a few of the ladies from Mormon Matchmaker (http://www.theldsmatchmaker.com/) were in town. They hosted a free meet and greet at Kenny and Ziggy's and also held complimentary "Meet the Matchmakers" consultations for those who wanted to do so.
So I made an appointment on Friday to meet with a matchmaker. I showed up and met with Lily. She was so nice and asked me all about myself (family, job, likes, dislikes, hobbies, type of guy I'm looking for, etc.) She explained to me how the process works. Their clients (guys) come to them for dates. They then use their database and resources to find girls for them to date. If one of the guys likes me, then the Matchmakers contact me, tell me about the him and get an OK from me for him to either contact me himself or for them to set up a date. I told her that I am willing to travel for a date...you never know! :)
Side note, the guy from last week (No K Cupid J) keeps texting me asking to see me again. Apparently he had way more fun on our date then I did.......
And then there is this guy..he's 64.........
"What a man writes depends on that which touches his soul it can happen in a great slow wave over days and weeks and years or in the twinkling of an eye as you lift the veil from your own soul to show me what no one but me can see. . .
Dear Christi
You have a nice smile and good background. I appreciate what I saw of your values. I'm a loving man who is very young for age, healthy and strong. I'm looking for a woman who wants a family. I'm a professor of pediatrics; I invent math skills-enhancing puzzles for children, I sing with the symphony and I can write you a sonnet. Let me know if you would be interested.
These days I’m only interested in a relationship that is soul to soul. And I want you to know that the most important other thing for me is to have a child with someone in the context of love. I know you may prefer a younger man but if you can allow your heart to open to me, many wonderful things will follow. They are worth our talking about and seeking.
Communication is the key. Let us find the best in one another.

Reason says-- i will win You with my eloquence...
Love says-- i will win You with my silence...
Soul says-- how can i win You when all i have is already Yours?

Lucky me! I'm sure he is a lovely frog for someone, just not me.

(No) K Cupid J
Well last night I had my first date from OK Cupid. I matched with J (again with the J) and we text a few times and he asked me to meet him for a cup of coffee. We met up at Starbucks on Westheimer and Post Oak. (And since I don't drink coffee, I had a Jamba Juice!)
I should have known this was going to be a disaster as soon as I got there. We met up at 8:30 pm and I began to notice more and more motorcyclists arriving. (J has a motorcycle). Did you know that Wednesday nights bike riders meet up at that Starbucks and go on rides together? Me neither! Imagine my surprise when all of his buddies began showing up and talking to us (well him, he didn't introduce me to anyone) So I feel like he only suggested that place so he could show off to his buddies he was on a date. (Strike 1)
We (well he mostly) talked. Now I am familiar with motorcycles. I have 2 brothers that had had bikes. I have friends who have bikes. I've been on bikes. But to talk to me about it for an hour....BORING! He talked about how he recently started going up to hospitals to see guys injured in bike wrecks. (actually I thought that was kind of cool....the cool part ended there!)
He talked about how he is an only child. I told him I have 4 brothers. He then said "What, did your parents keep trying for another girl and finally gave up?" (not amused, strike 2). He said he has 2 ex wives. (Now I am ok with being divorced, but 2 ex wives by 30.....kind of freaks me out)
Now, anyone that REALLY knows me, knows that I am SUPER sensitive about my weight. I was ALWAYS referred to as the "Skinny Girl" and I was always asked if I ate, was anorexic or bulimic. Hell I graduated high school at 95 pounds. (I wasn't any of those, some people are just jerks and its not funny to tease people about their weight. It's just not nice!!) So needless to say, I am probably the only person in the world who gets excited to gain weight. Last night, we are sitting there and he says this to me "From your pictures, you looked bigger." WTH!?!? I looked bigger!?!? What does that even mean? Are you sad I'm not bigger? Are you calling me fat!?!? (Pretty much strike 3)
So at 9:40 pm I told him that I was going to go so he could hang out with his buddies. Then he said "If you want to me again....." (yeah doubtful) He stood up and made a big scene about hugging me and I walked to my car and left. Then at 3 AM, I get a text that says "It was a absolute pleasure meeting you." (I'm sure it was, but not at 3 AM! We all know how I feel about 3 AM texts.....VETO!)
Geez! With all these dates, eventually I have to get a prince, right?
Until that happens, I am still kissing frogs.....

Updates and Ok Cupid
It's been a BUSY couple of weeks. I feel like I always say that, but it has. Work is just not slowing down....until this week when my boss is on Spring Break! (Please don't let him email me!!!) I haven't had a lot of time to invest into dating. Let's face it, dating is time consuming. And I have just been feeling a little burnt out........
So at the recommendation of a close friend, I got on OK Cupid. She met her boyfriend on there and they are very happy!! It's an online site like all the others, and man the pick up lines keep coming!! I thought I would share some with you, just so you can understand how crazy and funny it is clearing out all the freaks. There were more, but those were the best ones...and that's not really saying much.

- Happy rainy Thursday. Not gonna hit you with the normal lines that I'm assuming are blowing up your inbox, but I will ask if you can have any super power besides flying what would it be and why? I'm D if you care like talking.
- wow will you marry me :) lol?
- Might not reply because of age but.. is like to take the time to say that you're very very VERY gorgeous :) (he was 21)
- Well aren't I lucky??? Hi pretty girl. Just woke up for a bit. Let's talk later.
- I am a matchmaker with a great match for you:,Me! lol. I am the gentleman type and believe in treating the girl right. :). I am sort of a nerd as well, as I am an engineer, or as my former professor called it, an enginerd.lol. I I am a fun guy.:).
- Hello! You didn't have much on your profile but you're very cute and I'd love the opportunity to chat and get to know you better. Have anything fun planned for the weekend?
- "Ctrl + v" sounds like the name of a screamo band. Hi there I'm E and I've always wondered how did that cow jump over the moon? What are you up to? I like corny jokes so I'm gonna ask you to tell me one.
- When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible (he was 54)
Oh, the update on M....we are just going to be friends. He is GREAT guy, FANTASTIC! I can't say enough nice things about him. We are just on 2 different pages at the moment. I wish him nothing but the best and I know he feels the same.
I have been asked why I don't do a singles cruise...I'd be down. If anyone wants to go with, let me know! I'm going to venture out in open water alone, but if ya'll want to go, then let me know. Even if we get there and it sucks, who cares. It'd be great blog post!! :)
We shall see how ok cupid goes. Hopefully I will get some dates out of it.
Until then, I am still kissing frogs......

Cowboy J
It has been a UBER busy couple of weeks. Sorry its taken me so long to blog about my date!
What is the deal with me and J names?? I feel like every guy I meet has a J name! Not to mention all the guys I dated with J names! Hell, my car is even a J name!!
Cowboy J and I matched as soon as I swiped right. We messaged and soon exchanged numbers. He seemed cool and he asked me out to dinner last Wednesday. He even called me to make sure that I was actually a girl! How funny is that!?!?
We met up at Pappasitos on Richmond and Hilcroft and had dinner. He had just came from work (he works off of Wilcrest) and so he looked nice. I noticed his dimples right away. So cute! As we ate we talked about generic first date things. He is from Brenham so we talked about that and how Brenham does this Maifest. Apparently its a HUGE deal! We chatted about our families. He is divorced with 2 kids. I learned about barndominiums. (Google them, its actually kind of cool) Overall I liked him. Great start for a first date, I thought.......
When we went to leave, he gave me an awkward side hug and left. I got him and texted him "Thanks again for dinner. It was fun!" His reply "You're welcome" Wait what?!?!? You're welcome!?!?!? No we should do it again sometime? No I had fun too? No I'll be in touch? Nope....just you're welcome. Now, I'm sure some of you are thinking that it's not that bad. But guys, help me out here. You're welcome is code for you will never hear from me again. (Sort of like, it's not you, it's me, but it's really you.) I kinda hoped that he was just nervous and didn't know what to say, but its a been over a week and zero contact.
So on to the next. In the meantime, I am still kissing frogs.......

Begging Buddy
This is a LONG post about Buddy! I promise it's entertaining.........
This has definitely been an interesting couple of days.....Sunday I was propositioned to have a 3 some! WTH!!?!? Too bad I'm the only girl in my family and I never quite learned to share ANYTHING!!! SO VETO!
Also on Sunday I had the "fortunate" opportunity to match with Buddy on Tinder. Poor Poor Buddy!
Buddy messaged me first and seemed cool. We chatted about our weekend, what we do, etc. He asked about the rodeo carnival. (He lives in Alabama and was here getting a stem cell transplant checkup).
Sometimes I just feel that it's easier for me to post the conversation....just so you can get a idea of what I am really thinking.......
He said " I noticed you and couldn't help but learn more"
well that's a nice line......ok I'll bite.....
B: What do you have going on tonight?
Me: I'm doing laundry! I have zero clean clothes to wear to work tomorrow. (ok that is a lie, I had just gone to my mecca (aka the Houston Galleria) and bought a few things, and I had done my laundry the day before. I was just being lazy! Don't judge!)
B: Come have have pizza. I'm can't help you with laundry and clean clothes from here. (he was staying at a hotel by the med center)
Me: How long are you in town for?
B: Til tomorrow night. My flight is at 5pm. Come let's go walk around the rodeo. I'm bored out of my mind. (I don't really like the cook off or the carnival)
Me: You will just have to come back so we can.
B: I'm here now.
Me; I can't tonight. I have to get some work done before tomorrow. (also a lie!)
B: You are no fun. LOL. Make me sit here in my room all alone, with no friends to play with. Makes me sad. LOL
(I'm not amused and starting to get annoyed.)
Me; I'm sorry.
B: I'm sure there are plenty of guys here that would take a very sexy lady out on the town. You need to stop doing laundry for a while and come see me. I can enjoy that smile while I am here.
Me; Rain check? (Take a hint buddy!!!)
He tries to sweet talk me more, "I'd come back to Houston more often if I knew there was a sexy woman waiting on me.....blah blah blah......
I tell him that my boss is texting me about work. (Again, a lie! I probably should have stopped responding, but then what fun would that be?) He tells me that "your boss said you need to come here and see me. You can't go against his orders. Your boss said you need to come keep me company."
Then he asks for my number......whatever, I'm annoyed but slightly entertained to see how much more thick he can lay the lines on......
He then texts me and tells me I am sexy (OBIVOUSLY! hehe) and he would kiss my lips if I was there. (One of many reasons I am NOT there!)
Poor guy tries to win me over asking if I am romantic and that I seem nice and like I will do anything for the man I care about. He then asks if he can put me in his suitcase and take me to Alabama. Then he says that he wishes I could come stay with him tonight. "You can wear my shirt and shorts." (I have my own clothes!) Then he proceeds to beg me to come over!!! "You will have your own bed. (I have my own bed at my apartment!!!) I dodge that invitation with an "I'm on the phone" (you'd think he'd catch on, but no)
Finally I tell him that my phone is about to die (lie yet again) and he quits messaging me.
Then Monday.....guess who texts me first thing........Yep... Buddy!!!
B: Good Morning! Hope you slept well. Wish you could come have lunch with me.
Me; Swamped!! (NOT a lie, I REALLY was!)
B: That's no good. I am done until 2:45. Wouldn't mind have a sexy woman with me. (really!!?!?)
Me: ............no response......seriously...take a hint. I'm at work and I'm busy!!!
B: Must be real busy. Can't keep your attention. (Did you really ever have it in the first place!?!?!?)
later on....
B: I'm headed to the airport. I wish you was flying with me. Could become mile high members. Haha!!! (ok by this time, he had sent over a current pic....no......just no.....)
Me: Have a safe flight.
B: Thanks dear. Want me to let you know I made it?
Me; (NO!) sure....
Then he texts me when he lands at like 8:30pm. (Clearly I was worried sick!)
B: Regret not coming to see me now? LOL
B; Guess not. Sorry
I just have no words. Poor Buddy! He probably thought/hoped I'd be dumb enough to come over and do whatever and he could brag to his friends that he nailed a girl in Houston....cause you know...he's a stud! Too bad for him I'm not that type of girl. I only meet guys in public places and there is ZERO going home with you on the first date. Call me a prude. I'm ok with that. Tinder is, if nothing else...VERY entertaining!!
So here I am.....still kissing (or not kissing) frogs......

Hypocritical D
Geez! Where do I start!?!?? It's been a crazy couple of days. SO MUCH DRAMA!!!
I hope you were able to read the blog about D last week. We went out to lunch, had a great time, etc. Everything was fine until somehow he found my blog. (I have nothing to hide. I just don't tell the guys I am blogging because I want to see the real them. I don't want an act. I want to know the real person. Besides, I usually go on a lot of first dates. Very few get more than 1 date. No need in telling them about the blog if its not going to go anywhere, right? Plus, if I didn't blog about it, then none of you would know about Captain Underwear and that is one damn funny story!!!)
Ok so somehow this weekend D found out about my blog. (Hence part of the reason it's private) He text me and said "I need you to take that down IMMEDIATELY" When I asked why he said "for my own safety" (red flag). I took the post down....whatever.
Then yesterday this is the text exchange:
D: hey
Me: are you still mad?
D: I wasn't mad, more blown away.
Me: Why? It wasn't anything bad...I guess I just don't understand....
D: I don't expect you to
Me: Ok
D: I haven't lived a traditional professional life and putting things in there about military, Austin, where we met, etc put me at risk.
Me: So where does that leave us, if anywhere.
D: I don't know, the whole blog things seems odd and horribly impersonal and that you feel comfortable posting about your dating life is not at all aligned with me. It's just all weird.
Me: It's a blog about my adventures in dating. I'm an open person to an extent. Some stuff is off limits, and I get that. It's up to you, I'd love to see you again, but understand if you don't.
D: No, not interested, too strange.
Me: Ok, well best of luck to you! :)
D: likewise
D: It's a real shame. In the future you make want to tell people that you're "blogging" about them
So let me get this straight...YOU are online dating. I met YOU on Tinder. YOU told me YOU are active on social media. Yet YOU have a problem with me blogging about it because it puts YOU at risk!?!? What are YOU hiding!?!?! I understand that he likes his personal life personal, but telling me it puts YOU at risk!?!!??!!? Hypocritical much!?!? Now I'm sure you probably have an different opinion about this, maybe even agree with him and that's fine! But just the whole way he acted and what he said, just doesn't sit right with me. RED FLAGS being thrown everywhere!
I have half a mind to post his picture and contact info just so we can look for what he is hiding! But I won't. I'll be nice......for now....
So now my blog is private.....and I plan on keeping it this way. Unless Hollywood calls and wants to make a movie about this....
Looks like this frog is still a toad......

Date with A from Tinder
Last night I had a date with A from Tinder. (I know I said Tinder was shallow........) We matched last week and soon after were texting. So we decided to meet up for dinner last night at the Grand Luxe Cafe at 7:30pm (which is convenient because Grand Luxe is like a 2 minute drive from my apt).
My first impression of him is that he was cute, he was wearing gray jeans though (so NOT a fan of gray jeans). He had a nice deep voice!!! We hugged hello, went in and were immediately seated. He was super easy to talk to. We talked about our day (mine was INSANE with travel nightmares!). He used to work in Dallas for a physician's recruiting firm so we shared crazy stories and travel woes. He asked me why I don't drink. I told him that if he knew me better he would know that I act like a fool normally, so don't need to add the alcohol. (I mean we all know how graceful I am!)
We talked about our families. He is an only child. (You are familiar with the brothers). He has 2 kids, a girl and a boy. His daughter is 7, his son is 4. He bought his daughter (and her friend) Taylor Swift tickets for her birthday! We talked about his ex and how well they get along because its all about the kids. (His ex has a key to his house and vice versa.)
We talked about shared interests. He likes NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) racing. (I have gone to so many drag races I can't even tell you!) Typical guy, likes sports and fast cars! We talked about the Urban Slide coming to Houston. All kinds of random stuff.
After dinner, we shared dessert (warm butter cake) and we left. He walked me to my car and he asked about Justin (my Jetta). He said volkswagens were quality made cars. (made Justin happy!) We hugged and he said we should do it again. I agreed. All in all, it was a good first Tinder date. We shall see.
And for you M fans: HE IS STILL AROUND! I have had so many questions about him. He has been very busy with his kids and I respect that. I am hoping we can go out again soon.
Until then, I am still kissing frogs....
